Extraction is the first stage in the artificial grass production. On this stage of production, extruder forms stalk that have excellent visual and tangible similarities with natural grass. After that, stalks are being fixed on the flexible latex basis.
In production, we use different colors, shades, and combinations, depending on the partner's demand. Ekipgrass uses only high-quality yarns, that meet all international standards. Our company buys threads from world leaders in this industry, such as Tencate, so partners can be sure of the quality of our products.
The fibers go on large coils, and substrate comes in rolls more than 4 meters wide. The first step here is to put these two ingredients together. This happens by so-called “tufting”.
Tufting is performed on a special machine, it looks like a huge sewing machine. With the only difference, it has a lot of needles: up to 250. These needles pass yarn through a mesh synthetic coating, making hundreds of stitches per minute. Small bottom blades cut yarn loops.
Then the controller inspects the coating to ensure that the grass was woven perfectly. Then it is being transferred to the glue shaft for backing procedures.
Backing and packaging processes
This shaft picks up polyurethane from the gutter below and puts it on the back side of the grass passing over it. Thus, stitches of synthetic yarn are glued to the lining. The polyurethane is liquid at this stage. It needs to dry out. The length of the drying section is about 5m. The temperature in it is carefully controlled. If it is too hot, artificial grass will melt. At the exit, hot needles make holes in the cover to allow water to pass through. Now the controllers check whether the grass looks good on a flat surface. They remove sticky pieces of yarn and measure fibers. Then, grass is tested on the device that simulates the pressure of football boots to make sure that product is resistant to wear.
After quality control, the lawn is packed in rolls and labeled. Each project is given its own packaging color. This is it! The lawn is ready to be sent anywhere in the world!
